SUTR CIP Unit with Pure Water Tank - Dairy, Food and Beverage processors generally have potable water and drain utilities which equal or exceed the highest CIP flow rate and the CIP operation can therefore be accomplished with small, simple CIP Units like the STSU system previously described

The Pharmaceutical and Biotech need for higher quality water supplied via facility loops of lesser capacity than the CIP Supply pump can be met only by using larger tanks, using multiple tanks, or both. The CIP Unit shown to the right used an oversized conical bottom tank with static leg as both the water supply tank for low grade water, and as the recirculation tank via installation of a spray on the return line to continuously flush the tank surfaces. The high grade water was supplied via a separate tank. This skid incorporated a Transfer Panel in the CIPS line to permit the supplemental water tank to be chemically cleaned via a manual connection.

Large Process Dual SUTR CIP System - When ESC received an RFQ for a large Pharmaceutical process design which included requirements to (1) clean multiple tanks simultaneously at high rates of CIPS flow, and (2) clean long 4" diameter transfer lines

It's Application Engineer suggested consideration of a modified SUTR with supplemental tanks for low-grade and high-grade waters which were not available in sufficient quantity to meet the needs of the CIP Supply Pumps.

The two tanks were sized to provide water to both systems simultaneously for the duration of the longest flush or rinse, and were supplied as separate but shop interconnected units for field assembly by means of clamp type joints.

The two SUTR Units each comprised a conical bottom tank with a static leg, CIP Supply Pump and Heat Exchanger plus all valves and sensors.

These were assembled on a skid in combination with the single Control Panel for interface to the user's DCS control system. The overall dimensions of this very unique arrangement were XX feet long by XX feet wide by XX feet high.

Combination Product Mixer/CIP Unit - When ESC received an RFQ to supply a small CIP Unit to clean a mixing tank and four hold tanks, subsequent discussion indicated that the mixer and transfer lines to and from the hold tank required cleaning on completion of each batch, with product in one or more of the four hold tanks. The ESC recommendation to use a mixproof valve based product piping system and the use of the CIP Tank as the Mixing Tank received favorable consideration and the combination unit in the picture to the left was designed to meet both needs. A standard "Self Cleaning" SUTR with a vertical HXR was selected as the starting point and a blocking valve was added to the tank spray supply from the CIPR line, to permit flow through the spray to be stopped so that the manway could be opened for drug introduction into pure water being re-circulated from the hold tank. On completion of drug addition, Air-Blows clear the CIPR and CIPS lines in sequence, and then an automated CIP program is initiated to clean the Mixer/CIP unit and the CIPS/R which is also the process piping. The same system, using the same CIPS/R piping subsequently cleans the hold tank and transfer line to the downstream process. The integration of process and CIP functions provided fully automated CIP at a minimal capital cost.

Fruit Drink Aseptic Processing System - ESC has fabricated a variety of process skids for the food industry. The UHT System shown at the right is representative of the complexity of such equipment.
