CIP CONTROL SYSTEMS
This internal view of the Portable CIP Skid Control Panel is representative of current ESC production. This "full house" enclosure includes:
- Transformer to convert 480VAC supply to 110VAC for the control system
- Allen Bradley SLC 5/04 PLC to control all CIP program functions
- VFD for 3HP 3450 Rpm CIP supply pump
- PanelView 550 Operator Interface (in door)
- Relays to control power to 30KW Immersion Heater in HXT Housing and two Chemical Pumps
- Solenoids for all air-operated valves and Air-Blow solenoid
- Interface components as required for Mass Flow Meter, pH Sensor, Conductivity Sensor, Resitivity Sensor, two RTD's, Return Flow Probe and Water Tank Level Probe
The PanelView Operating Screens were accessed from the Start-Up Menu screen and included:
- PASSWORD Screen
- P&ID Screen (full schematic, with color coded components to define ON/OFFstatus
- MAINTENANCE Screen
- START UP SCREEN
- ALARM HISTORY SCREEN
- TANK Program Recipe Screen
- Line Program Recipe Screen
- PROGRAM MATRIX Change Screen
A Typical Start-Up Screen
The main MENU screen provides access to all other HMI Screens by pressing the appropriate function key.

CIP PROGRAM FEATURES:
ESC's Software Engineers maximized the utility of the above specified PLC/PanelView based CIP Control System. The program included five (5) Tank program recipes with "Burst Rinse" capbility. Each program consisted of up to 55 steps and provided for eight process variable set-points. Five (5) Line program recipes included up to 36 steps each, in addition to the eight process variable set-points. The Matrix driven programs and the Table of Recipes and Process Variables can all be entered and modified via the PanelView HMI screens, by an individual with an acceptable PASSWORD, and four levels of protection were provided to control access for Operators, Maintenance personnel, Supervisors (Change Process Variables) and Software support personnel (modify the program Matrix).
ESC CIP CONTROL DESIGN CAPABILITY:
Whereas the above describes the proprietary control system and software typical of that supplied with many PLC controlled CIP Units, ESC's Software Engineers collaborate with the user and other vendors to define, develop, de-bug, start-up and validate much more comprehensive systems which may involve:
- Larger PLC's remote from the CIP Units, perhaps controlling more than one CIP System
- Integration of the CIP Unit PLC with another system for general oversight of the CIP programs, provision of data for monitors, and acceptance of operator control via keyboards, touch screens, etc.
- Integration of the CIP Unit PLC with a DCS for supervision and control of process system components, in combination with the CIP program controlled by the PLC.
- Development of the required documentation for all of the above combinations of equipment, to assure a properly operating validatable CIP System and software.
